"Chilean Adventure. part II"
Speaker: Steve Frieze

Steve and Phyllis Frieze spent a month touring Chile and investigating the habitat of many of the most remarkable cacti to be found anywhere in the world. The fields of Copiapoas and Eriosyce were breathtaking and exhilarating.

Part 2 will include a visit to two very remote canyon locations— both required extensive hikes into very arid environments—and their discovery of some extraordinary settings that left an indelible image in their minds. Their trip occurred prior to the recent devastating earthquake and will highlight the conditions of the towns as well as the plant environments.

They will also share some photos of possible primitive paintings that were discovered inadvertently as they explored the great rock wall at the end of one of their hiking expeditions. Lastly, they will take you to the Andes mountains where large golden-spined Eriocyse aurata were found.
